Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering an instrument hidden in her attic then becoming enthralled by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music not to get an income or as a pastime and as a way to improve. In order to do so, she began writing new compositions. Her sources include noted writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love of Bjork's style. Responding to her mother's advice that her children should not be aiming to become famous with her songwriting, but instead be aware of the significance of them and the impact they have on society. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six, and began making music when she was 9 years old. Her family didn't hear about her musical journey until she was 14. It was never a dream to be Aurora. Aurora claims she loves writing songs. She claims that music is her preferred method to feel anything.
